Transit Mode:

Objectives:

To assess the new location of the astronomical observatory

Results:

We assessed two locations

Location 2. lat 38 24' 24" / long 110 47' 30" (12 S 0518265/ 4250751) Elevation 1383 m, accuracy 4 m - distance from Hab approximately 39 m

Location 3. lat 38 24' 23" / long 110 47' 31" (12 S 0518265/ 4250751) Elevation 1382 m - distance from the Hab approximately 131 m

Comments:

Place                Position                          Comments

Location 2         39 m from the Hab            Higher horizon, more light pollution/ less cabling for power

Location 3         131 m from Hab                Lower horizon, very good panorama, slightly higher than location 1/ more cabling for power.

Lessons Learned:

1. The further away from the hills you are the greater sky yo have to look at.

2. Radio functionality must be fully checked before we leave Hab
