WINNERA piece of wearable technology that allows a user to program gestures and associate them with actions on a computer or another piece of wearable technology, such as an HUD.
Developers, designers, scientists and curious people brought their ideas to NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge. KiwiSpace collaborated in the Auckland events.

Space Apps turned open challenges into a shared exercise in invention: form a team, choose a problem, and build a response over a weekend.
The Auckland events at AUT University brought together different disciplines to explore space and life on Earth. The results ranged from wearable controls and water mapping to holographic launches, orbital visualisation and imagined life on Mars.
KiwiSpace was one of the collaborators behind the local events. The entries below are the teams’ concepts from those weekends, rather than claims that every prototype became a finished product.

The project maps out water sources that are available globally with the use of crowd sourcing.
A web based program that can allow user control, which presents procedures and information prior to launch in an interactive manner. It presents information and engages the users about pre-orbit procedures.
We aggregate data from USGS web services to visualise streamflow on a United States map. Parameters like width, depth, velocity and speed are displayed in an intuitive way to make it accessible to a broad audience.
Orbit is a telemetry data app that uses the live feed received from the I.S.S to create an interactive experience for the users.
Lisa Anderson is an astronaut on a mars exploration mission. Lisa is in danger of running out of oxygen. Dust storms and space radiation is seen approaching in the horizon. Help her get back to safety by using the lava tube to get back to her ship safely!
We are analysing data from Astronomy Picture of Day (APOD). Everyday a picture and its brief description are provided. The description is analysed using natural language processing and data mining techniques to develop a ranked list of keywords related to this picture.
Project Zoid brings together the vast array of NASA images and makes it accessible in a beautiful and simple way.
This project is a port of the existing orbit viewer used by the JPL. The current viewer is a Java applet. This project's viewer uses modern web technologies to increase accessibility and improve user experience.
Luna is an educational device pointing towards objects such as the moon or the ISS in real time.
Experience a rocket launch in true 3D - using holographic technology powered by your tablet or smartphone.
An out of Earth experience.
The World’s first drone social networking app, designed to help and educate users to fly more safely together.
Asteroid mining made simple.
At AstroMine, we have created a procedure and webapp to mine near Earth objects. Per Aspera ad Astra.
