Today I had a look at the pack for suit no. 5 again briefly but had no luck fixing it. I think it requires someone to sit down for a while and look through all the connections to see what is not working. David has fixed the broken suit tube that was originally on suit 2 and is now on suit 5. He used one of the spare tube pieces and attached it to the existing connectors.
I did a couple more experiments on the dust project today. I tried out different materials to see how well the dust would stick to them. Rosalba also went in sim to try getting dirt on one of the dust suits while she was digging for soil samples. I still need to analyse the results but I’m interested to see how it goes.
I participated in a communications test today which involved getting audio instructions from people at a remote base while I was in the space suit. The plan was to use my phone for communicating but we had connection issues so I had to use a laptop instead. I found that trying to carry a laptop, talk into it and collect soil samples while wearing a space suit was challenging but not impossible.
