The Trans-Tasman crew 118 from New Zealand and Australia was reunited today at 0800 hrs Grand Junction Time. After a brief from Mission Support we picked up the rental car and drove to the Hab. None of my crew members have been here before and were very impressed by the landscape and the relief forms. I really appreciated the moment of absolute silence that came after turning into the MDRS area (driving from Hanksville) that followed the traditional "Welcome to Mars" phrase! We are very happy to be here, overwhelmed and the first day was a good day to start adjusting to these new and extraordinary conditions.

It was also good to see DG again and see that the books at the Hollow Mountain are as great as I remembered them.

We decided to give everyone personal space to adjust to the new environment and other than having a try at sending our first reports as Crew 118 everyone had leisure time.

ENDS.
