Build it.
Fly it.
Learn from it.
Two days of practical rocket science for students and teachers, bringing an idea off the page and onto the launch pad.
A workshop with
room to launch.
The NZ Rocketry Challenge 2016 Boot Camp gave students and teachers hands-on experience designing, building and flying a model rocket.
Held at Albany Junior High School in Auckland during the September school holidays, the two-day event helped kick off the 2016 Rocketry Challenge season. Experts from Aerospace Education led the programme, supported by Massey University, Albany Junior High School and ATEED.
Students worked in teams of four, learning the science behind a good rocket, safe launch preparation and ways to improve their designs. Teacher breakout sessions explored how to carry the experience back into the classroom.
The workshop culminated in a mini-contest to see whose rocket could reach the highest altitude. Support from the partners meant the original event was offered without charge.
